2021 Social Media Calendar for Small Businesses

2020 is almost over, and it’s time to prepare your 2021 social media calendar. As a business owner, it’s important to be aware of the holidays and days of observance that are coming up so you can prepare content to post on behalf of your business. As you might have noticed, there are holidays and days of observance for just about everything!

Besides the traditional holidays like New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Christmas, there are many other days of observance that your business can use to celebrate or create a special offer.

But, it’s not just as easy as choosing a random photo and writing “Happy Green Bean Casserole Day!” on your social media account. You want to make content that stands out and connects with your audience in some way. For that, you need a well thought out marketing plan to coincide with the dates on our 2021 social media calendar.

It doesn’t matter if you’re creating a special dish for Nacho Day or giving a 50% discount on Black Friday; you need to create a content calendar in advance so you can plan not only the offer but also the posts that you’re going to share to notify your audience of the initiative (keep in mind, you’ll need to post several times before and during the promotion).

How to Use Our 2021 Social Media Calendar

First of all, you can use the 2021 Social Media Calendar to plan out which holidays and days of observance are interesting or relevant to your business. Not all of them will be, and that’s okay. There’s no way you could create content for all of these holidays anyway. Just choose a few that really resonate with you and your customers.

Get in the habit of creating a yearly social media plan or content calendar, not just for special holidays and days of observance, but also for other days or celebrations you’re planning.

If you need a little more help with ideas, you can explore the specific posts we’ve put together for some of the most important days each month – like our Black Friday and Cyber Monday Marketing and Post Ideas post. These posts will give you some fresh ideas so you can celebrate these special dates with your customers and even increase your sales!

When you’re planning out your social media calendar, you should also definitely check out our post, 18 Social Media Post Ideas for Small Business. It will help you think of some different ways to distribute your content and engage more with your audience.

The bottom line is this: make sure you’re using a 2021 social media calendar (like this one) to learn about the days of observance and holidays for the year ahead, filter out the ones that work for your business, and create a rough outline of your content calendar. Then, execute your content strategy and watch the impact it makes on your business!
